Even to this day sometimes I feel totally overwhelmed by how many products there are on the market for skincare, especially those targeted at specific skincare types. Theres always too much choice and actually you only need a few key products for a daily regime. I like to try and limit myself to 3/4 products, because otherwise its all just counteracting each other. Heres a simple skincare routine breakdown for you…
Step 1 : Cleanse
Cleansers are designed to gently remove dirt, debris, oil and makeup from the skin. Cleansing away these substances stops pores from getting clogged creating a clean face which will ensure your following skincare products are absorbed more efficiently. For example, its is a waste of time and product applying moisturiser to an un cleansed face as you will get no benefits from it.
My go to is Arbonne Deep Pore Blemish Cleanser. Its a super gentle cleanser that removes excess oil and reduces shine without stripping skin of natural moisture, leaving it feeling soft. Salicylic acid exfoliates to reduce the number of blemishes by exfoliating dead skin cells and penetrating pores so can be used on its own without an added exfoliator. Over time pores can appear minimised, creating a more even toned look to complexion. It also is full of sage which is my fav!!

Step 2 : Tone
Toners are designed to rebalance and refresh the the skin. The main point of a toner is to complete the cleansing step, removing any excess debris, oil and add replenishing ingredients immediately back into the skin. Toners are best for an extremely oily skin, however in my opinion toners are not necessary, they are just an added expense that you can skip by buying a decent cleanser.
My go to is Arbonne RE9 Advanced Regenerating Toner. Like i said, Im not the biggest fan of toners everyday, i feel most of the time its unnecessary. However when i feel like my skin needs it, this is my choice of weapon! I love it because its a spritz so isn’t too much effort, and is really quick and easy. Smells beaut, feels lovely and is perfect when you just want a little more luxury in your routine.

Step 3 : Exfoliate
Most people will exfoliate before they tone, however I see Cleanse and Tone as two parts of the same step and to me it makes more sense to exfoliate when you are completely clean. Our environment plays a big part in skin damage and is the main factor for buildup on the skin, leaving the skin surface dull, rough, and uneven. Exfoliating eliminates this buildup, which otherwise would cause clogged pores and uneven skin tone, and worsen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Ultimately exfoliating is a key step for a smoother and noticeably renewed skin. However be careful of the products you choose as anything too harsh will actually damage the skin.
My go to is The Body Shop Seaweed Pore Cleansing Exfoliator . Its packed with tiny jojoba beads and seaweed to refresh and clarify. My face feels super soft and clean after I use this product. Ive found it helps refine my pores and is quite gentle so wont damage the surface of your skin or leave you red.

Step 4 : Serum
Serums are my FAV! I’m actually obsessed with them, its not healthy and recently I’ve had a major detox and only really use one magical, beautiful Serum now ( which i will update you on soon). So, In simple terms, Serums are designed to penetrate into the deeper layer of your skin, creating a defensive barrier. They’re filled with antioxidants and anti ageing ingredients ( which aren’t just anti ageing but more so retexturing ) to create a softer, healthier and younger feeling skin.
Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate…well, I can honestly say this is one of my favourite ever products, and the reason i use it over night is because it sits quite heavy on the skin, but it works magic! Its a great one for reducing the appearance of scarring, it smells amazing and really it just makes my skin feel beautiful and healthy.

Step 5 : Moisturiser
Moisturiser and Serum are kind of a pair in my eyes. Moisturiser is no where near as effective without a serum. Its essential to use a moisteriser that includes an SPF. Sunscreens with antioxidants are essential to protect your skin from UV light exposure, which is the #1 cause of wrinkles, uneven skin tone, loss of firmness, and many other signs of ageing. Plus moisturising should finish your skin and keep you feeling hydrated and plump!
My Go To is Frankincense Hydrating Cream by Neals Yard. My sensitive skin can’t take any heavy cream as I instantly break out! But frankincense hydrating doesn’t break me at all, it just makes my skin feel beautifully hydrated! Its ideal under the make up and it smells INCRED. Shop with Neals Yard here…
